Coconut Oil Toothpaste

Servings: Yield=2 oz. | Time: 10 minutes | Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp. bentonite clay
  • 5 tsp. calcium powder (avoid calcium powder with magnesium)
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp. xylitol powder
  • 1 heaping Tbsp. melted coconut oil
  • 1 Tbsp. distilled water
  • 10+ drops essential oil (Some great oils to use are peppermint, cinnamon, spearmint, or orange.)
  • 2 oz. Glass Salve Jar

Instructions:

  1. Mix all dry ingredients together; then add wet ingredients. Mix well with a plastic utensil or silicone whisk (metal should not be used with bentonite clay).
  2. Store in a 2 oz. glass salve jar or a squeezable tube.
  3. To use, dip toothbrush into toothpaste, or squeeze toothpaste on toothbrush; then, brush teeth like normal.

Note 1: Because coconut oil is liquid at room temperature (75 degrees) and solid at less than 70 degrees, the consistency of this toothpaste may change. If you find your toothpaste to be too thick at your room temperature, try adding more distilled water to get your desired thickness. If you find your toothpaste too runny, try adding more calcium powder to get your desired thickness.

Note 2: You can find find bentonite clay, calcium powder, and xylitol powder at most health food stores.
