Essential Oil Spotlight: Oregano

Oregano essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the herb Origanum vulgare.

Oregano is known to be antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, antiseptic, antiviral, and immune stimulating.

Medicinally, the French have used oregano essential oil to help support the body when dealing with asthma, chronic bronchitis, mental disease, pulmonary tuberculosis, rheumatism, and whooping cough.

Aromatically, oregano is said to strengthen feelings of security.

Oregano has commonly been used to help with calluses, candida, carpal tunnel syndrome, intestinal parasites, pneumonia, sore throats, viral infections, and warts.

Oregano is known for its strong, spicy aroma and is valued as an herb for cooking. Try adding a drop or two of oregano essential oil to your sauce when making lasagna, spaghetti, pizza, parmesan chicken, or any marinara sauce!
